THE GASTRONOMY MUSEUM – TOURS & EVENTS

We organise many events and guided tours for groups in the Gastronomy Museum. Besides Czech, we also provide our services in the English, German and Russian languages. The Museum is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00. Opening hours can be adjusted according to prior agreement. 

1. Tailored Museum Events

Organise any type of event in our Museum according to your requirements.

Our usual offers are:

·         Team-building and team-spirit events

·         Birthday parties

·         Seating for private groups of friends

·         Other types of events tailored to your needs

We arrange food and beverages for your event to your specific requirements. The event can also be combined with a guided Museum Tour. It is all up to you! The Museum is closed to the public for the duration of your event.

 

2. Cooking or Baking Lessons 

Are you actively interested in Gastronomy, do you like to bake or cook, would you like to learn something new and have fun with friends at the same time? If so, we have prepared the following just for you:

·         Baking or cooking lesson of a special food item, according to prior agreement, under the guidance of a professional instructor;

·         Option of trying and tasting what you have prepared;

.         Chance to visit our unique museum. 

This event is designed for groups of up to 12 people, with a duration of approx. 2 hours.

Possible Variants:

Cake Baking

Visitors start the Museum Tour in the modern demonstration kitchen. After familiarisation with the recipe, they start to prepare the dough and subsequently bake it under the guidance of an instructor. Choice of refreshments during the task – tea, coffee. Later, tasting of previously baked cakes. While their cakes are baking, visitors are taken on a guided tour of the Museum and afterwards return to the kitchen for the fruits of their labours, which they will take home, including the recipe.

Visitors taste all these different kinds of dumplings and learn to prepare one of the types. A guided tour of the Museum follows the cooking lesson.

Sweet Fruit Dumplings

Visitors start the Museum Tour in the modern demonstration kitchen. After familiarisation with the recipe, they prepare the dough under supervision of the instructor. Choice of refreshments during the task – tea, coffee. During the cooking time of the dumplings, participants are taken on a guided tour of the Museum. They then return to the kitchen to taste the results of their work. The recipe will be available to take home.

3. Daily Tours of the whole Museum with commentary, tasting of Mead and sweet Meringue Kisses

Are you interested in a classic guided Museum Tour with a sweet ending? Then you will definitely enjoy the daily tour of the museum with tasting, which includes:

·         Tour of Museum Ground Floor

o   Development of the preparation of food from the Stone Age to electric cookers

o   Typical Czech pub from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

o   Merchant’s shop

o   Bar with the History of Distillates

o   Wine cellar

 

·         Tour of 1st Floor

o   Modern kitchen where tasting will be available

o   Hall of Fame of Czech Gastronomy

o   History of Dining and Cutlery

The tour duration is approx. 60 minutes. Price per participant: 150 CZK; with guide: +390 CZK.

For groups of more than 15 participants, the guide is provided free of charge. Optimal group: 25 persons.

PRICES ARE VALID FOR GROUPS OF MORE THAN 8 PARTICIPANTS. FOR SMALLER GROUPS EVENTS WILL BE PRICE INDIVIDUALLY. 

 4. Tour of the lower section of the Museum with Tasting of Alcoholic Beverages

If you are interested in the history of food preparation, in particular the history of alcoholic beverages, and would like to taste typical Czech beverages from leading certified producers, book the tour of the lower section of the Museum combined with tasting. This offer includes:

o   Tour of the Museum Ground Floor

o   Development of the methods of food preparation from the Stone Age to electric cookers

o   Typical Czech pub from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

o   Merchant’s shop

o   Bar

o   Wine cellar

 

·         In the Bar, special attention is devoted to the history of fermented beverages and distillates, which will be individually introduced and followed by tasting (up to 2 cl of 3 to 4 types of approx. 40% spirits)

 

o   Mead – the oldest beverage known to mankind (12% alc.)

o   Plum, pear, apricot brandy (42% alc.)

o   Becherovka (38% alc.)

o   Absinthe (70 % alc.)

o   Beer (the strongest Czech beer Primátor 24°, 10.5% alc.; or other types of beer)

o   Other alcoholic beverages according to arrangement

Jugs of water and bread or other salty snacks are provided. If requested, snacks can include typical smoked sausage. Another bonus is the awarding of the “Expert in Czech Spirits” diplomas, in the visitors' own language, which must be ordered in advance.

The tour duration is approx. 60 minutes. Price per participant: 250–330 CZK (depending on the selection of distillates and refreshments).

Guide: +390 CZK. For groups of more than 15 participants, the guide is provided free of charge. Optimal group: 15 - 25 persons.

The lower section of the Museum is closed to the public during group tours.

Possible Tasting Variants:

a)      Mead, beer, Slivovitz or Becherovka, salty sticks, water – 250 CZK

b)      Mead, plum, apricot or pear brandy, beer, salty sticks, water – 280 CZK

c)        Mead, Becherovka, beer, Slivovitz, Absinthe, salty sticks, water – 310 CZK

d)      Mead, Becherovka, beer, Slivovitz, Absinthe, salty sticks, smoked sausage, water – 330 CZK

The choice of tasting kosher plum brandy, beer schnapps, raspberry brandy and other specific distillates will be priced individually.

5. Tour of the entire Museum with Tasting of Selected Alcoholic Beverages

Mead in the lower section of the Museum, tasting of other alcoholic beverages (Becherovka, Slivovitz etc.) in the upper section.

The tour duration is approx. 70 minutes. Price per participant: 280 CZK. Guide +390 CZK.

For groups of more than 15 participants, the guide is provided free of charge. Optimal group: 15 - 25 persons.
